More Dorky fun!!!!! Oh and a give away!!!

Part two of my day with Lisa on the island.   She and I were talking about Orchids and she said she'd take me to the best place to see Orchids.  So guess where we went?? We went to WALMART!!!  Who would have known I'd go to Walmart in Hawaii!!!  But she was spot on. Those Orchids were beautiful!!!! I would have loved to have brought them home.

A whole lot of flora and fauna going on in that Walmart.  Did I tell you I love saying that??

So, the tour was over and Lisa took me back to my hotel.  OMG we pull up towards the front and the place is blocked off by yellow tape!!  DO NOT ENTER!!!!   I'm thinking, tours over I gotta go!!! BLOGGING TO DO!!!!!! 

Uh oh, someone's car is up against that pole!!!  And I think the pole won!! 

Oh could this be the problem????  He got a little too close????

It was actually the valet guy's fault. He went to park a Mustang and must have put it in reverse instead of forward and hit it hard cause he squished there cars together.  Smashed them hard!!!!!  I heard one man say, "the valet isn't parking my car.".   ROFLOL!!!!

Let's go back to the beach and check out the poultry.  Did someone say Terriyaki chicken???

Hello my bloggy friends

I hope your weekend is off to a good start.  I think mine is.  I'll let you know tomorrow.  LOL!!!  Hubby and I are cooking out tonight.  You know it's summer and that's how we roll around here.  If you've read my blog for the YEAR that I've been blogging you know my routine for the summer weekends.  Cooking outside, gardening, drinking wine,  well you get the picture. So I say let Summer begin!!!  And to that I say where did that 100 degree weather come from today??? It was hot, hot, hot and gonna be all weekend.

So Wed. I decided to make my doctor and my neighbor's cookies.  Yes my doctor I said. When we were in Arizona for my MIL's memorial I got the worst Urinary Tract Infection I think I've ever had.  Usually it's brought on by stress, and let me tell you it hit me like a ton of bricks.  I thought it would be fine and I could handle it till we were home.  Well I started hurting worse and worse.  Hubby and FIL were outside getting FIL's car started by AAA and I thought I've got to find a phone book with the pharmacy's phone number so I can call my doctor and give it to him and beg for a prescription for DRUGS!!!  I could not find that damn phone book anywhere.  I finally found an old pill bottle of MIL's and took that number.  I then called my doctor in tears, I was blabbering and the nurse could not understand me.  I said PLEEEZZEEEEE I need drugs, I'm in PAIN, and my MIL just died and I can't stand the pain!!!  Well they came to my rescue and called in meds for me which saved me.  So........the least I could do was whip up him and his nurse some cookies.  I get in the car yesterday and drive over to Orange county to deliver............there CLOSED on Thursday!!! So my cookies came home with me.  I'll try again on Monday.  The neighbor I made cookies for because they brought in my mail for two weeks straight.  I'm also giving them a quilt.  You never know when you need them again for two weeks right?? LOL!!  Oh and that phone book......... later that night we were looking for a phone number and FIL says let me get the phone book. He gets down on his hands and knees and drags it out from under the couch.  OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Of course that's where you keep your phone book.  LOL!!!!

Here's the newest members to our family.  These birds lay eggs every year in my hanging baskets. 

These last two photo's were taken today.  I think they thought I was Big Bird and I was there to feed them.  LOL!!!!! 

While we're on the subject of little babies, I thought I'd share a photo of Savannah, my cousin sent me this today.  My boys really have to get going on that grandchild thing!!!!

Ok, onto the Hawaii adventures.......................

I promised you a quilt shop today and I dont disappoint.  This time it's a Hawaiian quilt shop. Now they dont carry your "ordinary" Moda's, reproductions, etc, but they do have a "famous" quilter on their island!!!!

Look who my tour guide was for the afternoon. That Dorky one picked me up at my hotel and took me shopping!!!!!

Can you see her yet??? I'm waiting with so much excitement!!!!!  She's coming, she's coming!!!

Well, there she is in all her glory!!!!  The famous Lisa Boyer of Dorky Handmade Quilts.  What a sweetie she is.  She took me to Kapaia Stitchery.  The quilt shop where she teaches and several of her quilts are on display.  Our first stop was Starbucks of course. SHE picked that as our first stop not me!! But I must say I was pleasantly pleased!!

I swear to you I need to find some bigger bloggers. Girls where are you????????  Show yourself!!!!  I always feel like the Amazon next to these girls I've met.  Did I join the wrong bloggers network??? But isn't she just adorable?? She's so tiny and funny!!!

Ok, this was as we were leaving obviously cause we have our purchases in hand. So let me back up.

 

Here's Lisa standing next to her latest creation. She brought it to the shop that day to show it to the girls there.  It's the one on her blog. Does she like the camera or WHAT??? LOL  I didn't even say SMILE yet. 

Here's another one of her designs.  That humongous fan is in there for a reason. NO AIR!!!  And it was warm!!!   I love those colorful head/drinks  in that quilt.

They even sold pretty Lei's in the quilt shop.  Getting "lei'd" in Hawaii isn't cheap.  Im just saying!!!!   Needless to say it didn't happen to me.

Lisa took me to this see these beautiful waterfalls.  I forget what it's called but it was very pretty way up there.

Happy Anniversary to ME!!!!

Today is one year that I've been blogging.  Where did that time go? It went by so fast.  And just think of all the sewing time I've lost.  LOL!!!  My blogging sort of took over me.  I had no control for the longest.  Now I've got a little self control back, but not cured yet.  I can't walk past that dang computer without stopping and checking my blog.  Or yours!!!  I have to say I've enjoyed it though.  Or should I say I AM enjoying it. Now for my give aways.  Yes give aways!!!   I'm getting thing ready and will tell you soon how to enter.  I want to do some for you bloggers who are faithful in commenting on my blog, and I want to do one for the lurkers out there. You know who you are. 

Ok, onto my Hawaiian journal.  Sit back and relax cause here we go again.......

We decided to drive around one half of the island and saw this coffee company.  It was interesting.  I've never seen a coffee bean being grown. Only being ground at my local Starbucks for my  Venti,  Quad, Iced, Nonfat, 3 pump vanilla, extra ice, Caramel Macchiato.

Can you see all the beans? We tasted them and there bitter at this stage.  DUH!!!  Like I thought it would be chocolate flavor or something.

Can someone tell him we see his big old butt sticking out?? I told him he was like a dog hiding.  They think you can't see them under the table except for there back half sticking out.  LOL!!!!

The grounds (no pun intended) were very pretty. More of that F&F going on around there.

There's more flags.  I need a coffee flag in my backyard.

I think "someone" is ready to go.   He's patiently waiting while I'm doing my photography.  Ok, he's waiting but I'm not sure how patient he was.

Out back they had a tasting room set up so you could taste all the different coffees.  They also had this snack bar that had this interesting thing we wanted to taste.

Now does this just spell out H.E.A.V.E.N!!!!!!!!!!!!   I waited and I waited and...........

And I finally gave up. There was one gal back there working and let's just say she was in no hurry for me to have that fried ball of dough!!!  So we just had the free coffee samples.

Back at the hotel this little guy was waiting for us.

Check out these two guys..  they have no idea we're watching them.  I'm thinking someone got a new Ukulele today.  He was playing and singing like nobody's business.  We watched him from our patio up in the room.

Dinner time!!!!   Oh look there's hunka!!!!   OMG has he been working out??? 

We went to Duke's for dinner and the view again was unbelievable. We have a Duke's here on the beach but this one puts that to shame. 

Nope, I don't know who that couple is and I hope they don't mind being in my photo.  Cause they were IN MY WAY!!!!  I had to snap a photo of the water alright?  A blogger's gotta do what a blogger's gotta do right?

My dinner, terriyaki chicken and rice.  Boring you might say but.......you wont find an onion on that plate.  No sirry!!!! And I can wear the garnish in my hair later.

And what's that mess you ask??????  I don't know cause I didn't order it.  LOL!!!!    Hunka said it was delish so we will just have to believe him on that one.  I'm not even gonna put HIS garnish in my hair.

Ok, so have you ever been to a restaurant where they have traveling musicians and they come to YOUR table????? WELL.......................I do not like it and I don't make eye contact with them hoping that they will be on there merry old way.  I left my chair to go to the potty while they were at the table before ours.  When I got back they were at the table ahead of us.  WHEW I said we lucked out!!!!!!!!!!!  So I'll just get a quick snap of them. 

HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!    I think they saw my flash!!!   &*##!!!!!   I have to say the music was lovely but still..........do not stop at my table.  Same thing goes for clowns.  STAY AWAY from me!!!  LOL!!!!!!!  Now I'm not comparing them to clowns so save your nasty mail.  They can carry a tune, a clown.......not so much.  Although clowns can stuff 20 of them into a Volkswagen while I don't think...................they would still be able to carry there tune while stuffed in one.   

Ok, where was I???  OH!!!!   This is my side of the counter in the room. Notice all the healthy viddles going on there.  You never know when your gonna be stranded and you need back up!!!

And this side......well guess who's????  And no he didn't smuggle that fruit thru the agricultural check.  He paid his $10 dollars for two apples and an orange.  LOL!!!

As you can see I've rambled on and on and on and..................are you even still reading???  Have you left me???  If you can stand it there will be more tomorrow.  Oh yes there will be.  And it's a quilt shop tour.  I even had a famous person take me there.

I'm back and I'm tanned.

Ok, so I'm not really tan. But I'm not as white as I was when I last left you.  Hubby and I left on a two week trip to Hawaii.  We really needed it. Well he did for sure.  He's been thru alot lately and it was nice for him to get away.  He did work one week on the island so it wasn't all vacation for him.  Now me, that's another story. LOL!!!  What's work I ask you?  Another Mai Tai please!!!!  Or a Pina Colada, that'll do too.

We flew into Honolulu before we land in Kauai.  We decided to have a little beverage to start the vacation.  I was enjoying mine when I looked to my left and what did I see????? OH SHE DIN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!  OMG this lady had MY DRESS on!!!!  I banged on the window and pointed to MY DRESS on ME!!!  She gives me the thumbs up.   UH that's not what I was looking for.  And she left before I could get my photos. I was warming up the camera when she left.   I think I scared her with the banging on the glass window.  All I can say is I had the belt on and..........................well she didn't.  That's all I'm sayin.

Someone stole my little umbrella cause I'm pretty sure they don't put umbrella's in BEER. 

Our first stop was Kauai for 6 days.  What a pretty place. It's called the Garden Island for a reason.  I've never seen so much flora and fauna.   I've always wanted to say that.  Dont know if I spelled it right though.  Spellcheck says yes.  I'm not so sure.  But back to the garden part.  It's a beautiful place. Not a whole lot going on there though. So if you want actiivity I'd say it's not for you. If you want to relax and enjoy the beauty it's your place.

And here's our welcome party.  Someone told us about all these chickens that are running around the island.   I couldn't believe all of them. I think they should film Survivor there cause they would not starve from no food.  They are everywhere!!!  You'll see as I go on with the photos in days to come.  YES I said days to come. 

Ahhhhhh we're here.  Welcome to the island. 

I think there ready for us.  What do you think? And they even spelled the name right.  Now let's see how they pronounce it.  Usually it's Mr. Yeeeeeger, or Hey do you drink Jaegermeister????   LOL!!!!!!!!   I swear everyone asks us that.

I'll show you the view from our room.  It's spectacular.  Just beautiful. You can hear the waves crashing inside the room.  We were on the 6th floor so it was perfect.

Isn't this cute? They had two different waters everday with different fruits in them.  They were quite tasty I must say.  What a cute idea huh?  Go on you can copy it if you want. 

Loved this photo.  I love taking pictures of flags.  Especially when the USA one is involved.  LOVE IT!!!!   I'm quite the patriotic one in case you dont know. 

We found the FAMOUS Puka-Dog stand.  These guys have been on the food channel cause there dogs are so good. Well that's what they say.  We never did have one. 

They come with all these different flavored relishes. And have a menu board to help you in making the important decision. Now you've heard of a Puka Dog!!!

After the Puka-dog visit we decided to go to lunch at Brennecke's.  We asked the locals and they suggested this place right on the water.  It was a good lunch. And the view wasn't so bad either.

The beach was right across the street so we ventured on over after eating.

Man was it windy there. No wonder that palm tree is bending over. We're sorta leaning there too aren't we?? 

How about a little wading in the water? Cause that's all I'm gonna be doing it getting my feet wet.  The colors of the water is just beautiful. It looks fake.

Someone take the camera away from us!!!!!!!!!!  LOL!!!!  I think he needs to start his own blog what do you think?

I have lots more to show you but then you knew that right?  This was only our first and second day.

Guess what tomorrow is???? I can't believe it myself.  I've been blogging for ONE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!   OMG where did the time go?  I remember Doe telling me I should start a blog a year ago and I said Oh I dont have time for that.   And it happened!!!!  I was hooked. And now I have all you bloggy friends because of Doe talking me into doing this.  I'm having so much fun with it too.  So thanks Doe!!!  And I'm of course gonna have a big old give away coming.  Maybe not tomorrow but it's gonna happen so stay tuned cause you dont wanna miss it. 

Thanks again for all the nice comments about my MIL and our family.  Hunka thanks all of you too. It really touched him that so many comments were made.  And the cards............WOW!!!  Hunka couldn't believe the cards that were waiting when he got home and the ones he got before we left.   You guys are the best!!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!!! This will be a bittersweet day for us. We'll be missing Marcie a whole bunch.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

We're gonna miss her.

I just love this photo. It's of my husband, on your left, his brother on the right and his mom and dad.  Reminds me of the Cleavers.  LOL!!!  The perfect little family.  Now there is only two of them left. Dennis and his father.

Wed. we got the call that my Mother in law, Marcie had passed away. We were in San Diego for a couple days when we got the call. We came home repacked and headed to AZ where we put together her memorial service which we had on Sat.  She was a wonderful lady and is gonna be missed dearly.  I was lucky to call her my Mother in law and can only think of good things when I think of her. Only good memories. I lucked out when I got her as my Mother in law.   She and my Father in law just celebrated there 70th wedding anniversary on Monday. Marcie turned 89 in Jan.   She's had Alzheimers for ten years as I've talked about several times.  She hasn't known us for  the last four year's I'd say.   But she still had the biggest smile when I would see her. I'll always remember that big smile. 

I'll be gone for a little while but I'll be back. Just need to take a break for awhile.  I wanna thank those of you who have sent e-mails asking where I've been and were concerned about me.  That really made me smile when I got home and checked my e-mails today.

If you bought fabric from me, I have't forgotten about it and will get it out to you.  Sorry for the delay. Thanks for your patience.

Not much else going on around here. I've been cleaning my sewing room and finding all kinds of stuff I forgot about. Of course that means more things to get rid of.

LOBSTER BISQUE BASH

Tuesday after I got home from Chicago I invited some friends over for a Lobster Bisque Bash!! And what a bash it was. We had so much fun.  We ate, we drank we talked, and well, we were supposed to do some stitchin but that never happened.  Too much of the other stuff going on I guess. 

I started early getting the table ready.  I brought out the gigantic soup bowls cause we were going to do some serious eating.

These were the gifties inside the pkgs. I had these made for the girls at a shop I go to in St. Louis.

I dipped strawberries for dessert and bought a Tiramisu but forgot to take a snap of it. I think Deb might have a photo on her blog. She has different ones than I do. So go check it out.  WAIT, finish reading here first.  Don't you dare leave in the middle of my story.  LOL!!

Someone has to be the Martha around here.  This is why Deb came, for the dang cheeseball. Trisha Yearwood has a great recipe in her new cookbook. 

Hellooooooooo, too many cooks in my kitchen!!!!  Deb was learning how to make my fabo bisque.

Someone needs to tell her to SCOOT!!!!  Look at her all smiley!!   

Looky at all that lobster!!!!   We dont mess around at the Red Geranium Cottage when it comes to our bisque. 

You gotta keep your eye on this one.  Can't trust someone who doesn't have a blog!!  I'm just sayin!!!!  Looks like she has recovered from that uterus removal she had. 

Oh sure there all happy cause it's time to eat!!! There's Beth, Deb and Nancy No Blog/Uterus.  Oh and now she has No bump on her foot either. That was her latest surgery.  I'm thinking that she's addicted to the knife.  LOL!!!

Now here's where the real party was. How about some vino to go with your bisque?

Don't they all look like they are at attention?  ROFLOL!!! Deb looks like she's scared I'm gonna knock her out.  And I'm thinking Beth's not afraid of me at all.  And who knows what No Blog is thinking. 

Ok, they best not be playing games with my Annie's again.  Give them a little wine and there out of control.  Remember last time they were invited over?

I had such a great time at this show.  It was fun meeting up with Anna and her friends again, it was great to room with Carol, and to meet Louise from Sweden.  And of course shopping in Tara's booth, www.sewuniquecreations.com . Can't wait to go again. When I got home I had a pkg waiting for me from my buddy  Perry. What a nice surprise. Totally unexpected.  She said each thing had a different meaning that reminded her of me.  She said she had quite the time finding something with my Mary E. She thinks I went to Oklahoma and bought everything already.  LOL!!!

Now I'm not sure what the meaning is behind this itsy bitsy teeny weeny polka dot bikini.  LOL There is just no possible way I'll ever be able to cram this body into that in time for Summer.  Wonder if it comes in a bigger size??  MUCH BIGGER!!! But I do love her taste in the polka dots and it's red. Thank you Perry!!! I love it all.

SHE'S HERE!!!!!

Savannah made it into the world today at 1:30p.m.  Isn't she adorable???  This is my cousins' daughter's baby.  Oh how I wish I were there to hold her. They live in St. Louis. Melissa ended up having to have a C-section but all is well.

Now onto my quilt show photos.  I walked into this booth "Sew Unique Creations" and someone grabbed me, hugged me and said, YOU BLOGGER YOU".  OMG!!!  I looked at her like she'd lost her mind.  ROFLOL!! It was Tara who owns Sew Unique Creations. She said she knew that sooner or later I'd come thru her booth.  And boy was she ready for me.  What a welcome that was.  LOL!!!!  She said I could take photos of her booth so all of you could see. Most of the booths did NOT like you taking photos at all.  Tara does on line sales so you can order anything you see on here from her. She has kits too. I love her things.

Louise came all the way from Sweden to meet me,  I mean to see the show.  And she asked if we could meet maybe. Well of course we can are you kidding me??  She said but I dont have a blog?? I say to that, neither does Ms. Nancy NO BLOG!!!  LOL!!!  Isn't she another cutie? I love her hair. 

And look what she brought me? A neat Tilda tin and some candy. I shared it with all the girls that night Louise, they loved it. Thank you Louise, it was so nice to meet you.

After a long day of shopping on Friday Carol and I were heading out of the convention center when I saw Anna and her peeps heading back into the show.  We had looked all day and never saw them.  Then we ran into them on the steps.  We decided to meet up for dinner, then onto there room for a lesson in crochet. 

Anna brought all of us this cute bag with our name on them.  I'll show a better pic of it tomorrow. But inside was our crochet needle, thread and some stork scissors.  Now how nice was that of her?? I say it was VERY NICE. LOL!!!  Then either Junie, Joanie,Johnie,Janie??? Oh I'm not sure who it was but she brought Carol and I a jar of cookie mix in a Longaberger jar.  Very cute!!!  I can't remember who was who cause they have names like Gurney, Juni, and Jewels.  Oh then there's that Thimble chick.  It must be an Indiana thing with all the names.  LOL!!  But I'm pretty sure it was Jewels who gave us the cookie jar. 

I'm pretty sure this is in the rules of things NOT to do in your hotel room. Anna had these poor girls running around holding her chair so she wouldn't come tumbling down. I mean check out the size of that dang camera.  Look at poor Carol!! 

Oh look now it's poor Jewels turn to hold her in place.  And correct me if I'm wrong but poor Gurney just wants to get some shut eye!!!  She's practically there already.  ROFLOL!!

Thiis is what Anna was taking a pic of while balancing on a chair.  This was some of our stuff we bought. It looks like a quilt show exploded.  LOL!!!

And here's what we did in our crochet class. Aren't they the cutest little things? Now I've got to see if I can do one by myself without the teacher.  What a fun thing to make.  Thanks Anna for the lesson.  She's got some photos on her blog of our little get together too. So go check it out.

Oh hubby comes home tomorrow too. Man it seems like weeks since I've seen him. I went away on Thursday and he left on Sunday early. I came in late on Sunday night.
